The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a short introductory to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training. This Award is for new entrants to the Lifelong Learning Sector – you don’t need any prior teaching experience. It also suits people working within their job role who want to gain official qualifications.
This might be in: Adult community, Further Education, Voluntary Sector, Arm Forces, Beauty Industry and In house Training in the Workplace

The Course Content
The course is made up of three core units.
Unit 1 Looks at the role and responsibilities of a trainer/teacher and investigates the skills required to create an effective learning environment.
Unit 2 is largely practical and each learner are required to plan, deliver and evaluate their own 15 minute micro-teach on a subject of their choice. It focuses on the importance of an inclusive learning environment, meeting individual learning needs.
Unit 3 Investigates the different types of assessment within teaching and how assessment is a pivotal element of successful teaching

Are there any extra costs e.g. materials, equipment or books that I need to buy before or during the course?
In order to present your work to a professional standard and carry out online research you will need to have access to a computer with internet connection. Textbooks: – Ann Gravells: The Award in Education and Training and those relevant to your subject specialism. For students new to academic writing we recommend Stella Cottrell’s ‘The Study Skills Handbook’ as a reference book.

The course is designed to be completed in 24 weeks, providing a structured yet flexible timeline to achieve your qualification, the duration includes all assignments, practical assessments, and portfolio submissions.

What can I do after completing this course?
You can progress onto the Level 4 Certificate Education and Training formerly known as the old CTLLS course. This qualification is for those currently in a teaching role that are looking to further improve their teaching skills and progress along the pathway to full teacher status.
This is a reflective practice qualification where learners are encouraged to evaluate their current teaching skills and use feedback from tutors and learners to further develop their own teaching style.
