The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training course, formerly known as DTLLS course is aimed for those who are looking to gain full teacher status in the post-16 sector. This will provide you with the knowledge, understanding, and skills to teach and develop a range of personal qualities and attributes required for teaching, assessing and supporting learners. It is a reflective practice course where learners investigate the skills and attributes required in teaching and evaluate their own teaching styles.

How do we assess your progress on the course?

This is taught over 1 year, learners are required to log 100 hours of teaching, which includes 8 assessed observations. The assessment is portfolio-based through varied coursework assignments, essays, group and individual presentations, reflective practice, eight observed  teaching sessions and a professional development portfolio

Who the course aimed for?

The course is a natural progression for those learners that have already achieved levels 3 or 4, but learners with the required experience can also enrol straight on to the level 5 program

Successful completion of the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training allows the learner to apply for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the post 16 sector. The course is nationally accredited (QCF) and Ofqual regulated, gaining you an internationally recognised teaching qualification.
